frequently asked questions
What is counseling?
Counseling allows people to open up about their lives. It is a free-form of dialogue which aims to help you gain insights about yourself. There are no diagnoses. Counseling simply understands that life keeps on changing. Understanding how this affects you and how you want to address these changes is at the heart of counseling.
What are your credentials?
I hold a BSc in molecular biology and completed a three year Master's program on pastoral counseling called humanistic studies. Besides counseling expats, internationals and digital nomads, I have experience working as a humanistic pastoral counselor in penitentiary facilities and a forensic psychiatric centre (TBS).
Is confidentiality guaranteed?
I work with people in trust. I follow the ethical guidelines of my profession, which means I will not disclose our conversations — except in rare cases where I have a legal duty to protect you or others from serious harm.
Why do you work with expats, internationals and digital nomads?
After graduating from high school, I started my studies. Most of my peers were international, we'd speak in English and I would hear stories about other parts of the world. It was fascinating to me and it drove me to travel and live and work abroad myself. I like helping others coming to terms with the pros and cons of having the travelling bug, because I have it myself.
Where do sessions take place?
I work from my office in The Hague as well as online.
How much do you charge for a session and what is your cancellation policy?
Prices are dependent upon your income and station in life and start from €135 per 90 minutes. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice will be charged at the full session rate.
Can you refer me to someone?
If your needs fall outside my scope, I can direct you to other caregivers.
